When planning
a Wedding Reception, one important aspect frequently overlooked is
Adequate Sound Amplification !

In an uncarpeted, unfurnished room with a low ceiling (i.e. a school
assembly hall) speeches and announcements can generally be heard quite
well. However banqueting suites and function rooms are furnished with
sound absorbing materials to give a sense of luxury, and this, together
with 75-100 guests
(or more) means that even the most powerful speaking
voices may not be heard by everyone present. Added to this most people
aged 60 and over suffer some form of hearing loss - although they seldom
realise it.
Some of the larger venues provide a P.A. system but there is no guarantee that it will function properly on the day, due to no maintenence, or
radio-microphones can suffer damage through being accidentally dropped,
and at a cost of around £300 per drop, venues aren't always in
a hurry to replace them.
Sometimes the DJ can provide a microphone amplifier and speakers, but more often than not they do not set up until after the speeches have finished and the room reset.
To hire a P.A. system from a specialist supplier can incur expenses from £200 as they have to include a special journey by the suppler to set up the equipment.
Besides providing amplification for announcements and speeches, for a small additional fee, my system can also provide backgound music while guest are assembling, the entrance of the bride, during the signing of the register, and the couples exit from the ceremony, and during the Wedding Breakfast.
Below are some useful links to companies that I can recommend.
